The Recycling Association President Celine Grant awarded her President’s Award to Adrian Jackson at this year’s AGM & President’s Day.
Adrian was born in Stretford, Manchester.
When studying for his A-levels, his mother passed away and he ended up leaving school to work with his father at Greengate Waste Paper and even worked as a bookmaker at Bolton Dogs and in Preston.
Unfortunately, his father passed away in an accident and married with two children, our recipient had no choice but to sell Greengate Waste Paper to Butterworths in Manchester.
After running the Butterworths factory in Stoke, he was asked to join Salter Waste Paper in Leeds. After successfully turning the Goole site into profit, he was asked by Roy Salter in 1988 to move to London and worked in the Deptford depot.
During the 1990s while working long hours for Salter Waste Paper, he still found the time to return to education to complete his A-levels and eventually achieved an MBA from the Open University.
In 2000, with the confidence from his education and his track record that he had helped others grow their businesses, he set up Prismm Environmental from his back bedroom and turned this into a successful business.
Now retired, he spends time with his family, on the golf-course and following Manchester United. But he still finds time to support the Council of The Recycling Association and is a former President of The Recycling Association.
