Patrick Kilcoyne from Genus Recycling has been awarded the President’s Award by outgoing President Celine Grant.
In her last action as President, Celine picked Pat for the award to reflect his contribution to The Recycling Association.
Pat is currently a director of Genus Recycling, but started his career with SCA, spent seven years at Abitibi Bowater before becoming managing director at Reparco UK. He also had a short spell at Oatley Resources until he joined Genus.
Celine Grant said: ” Pat is somebody who always has time for people — and I can personally say he has always had time for me. Over the years, I’ve watched him progress through this industry and succeed in everything he turns his hand to. Yet despite all of that success, he has remained grounded, approachable, and incredibly supportive of the people around him.
“He is the type of person who listens, encourages, and quietly helps others grow without ever looking for recognition himself.
“Of course, many of you will also know him as the life and soul of any good gathering. Full of craic, stories, and laughter — usually with a drink in hand and a crowd around him.
“But beyond the laughs and the stories is a genuine gentleman, a mentor, and a true friend.
“To me, the President’s Award is about recognising people who bring something special to our industry — not just through business success, but through character, loyalty, and the way they treat others.
“Pat absolutely embodies that.”
