The Recycling Association represents the interests of its Members.
From the largest multi-national recycling and waste management companies, to SMEs and even micro businesses, our one-member one-vote policy and democratic structure means that every Full Member has an equal say.
We also welcome Associate Members including retailers, equipment manufacturers and service providers.
The Recycling Association has a unique funding model, meaning our Membership fees are modest when compared to other trade associations. Through our sister company IWPP and our shareholding in Traqa, this provides the largest share of our funding.

How do we represent the interests of our Members?
The Recycling Association is involved in the following activities on behalf of its Members:
Working with government
Working with the UK Government and devolved Nations on policy, regulation and law
Networking
Networking between Members, and/or other sectors such as retail, manufacturing, local government and others
Keeping Members informed on international policy, regulation and law
Engaging with European partners
Engaging with European partners via our membership of umbrella trade association Recycling Europe (formerly EuRic)
Representation
Representing the recycling industry on international, national, local and trade media
Support
Supporting companies where possible, such as offering legal advice via our lawyers etc
Campaigning
Developing campaigns, such as Quality First, that aim to improve trading conditions for our Members
Advice
Day to day advice and problem solving
Our history
The Recycling Association was formed in 1975 to represent independent recovered paper merchants. Our Membership now comprises companies involved in collecting, sorting and recycling a wide variety of materials.
